The UK Parliament has recently passed a controversial law called Rwanda. The aim of this law is to stop immigrants from coming to the UK because last year more than 1000 Indians risked their lives by trying to cross the English Channel by boats and tried to get asylum in the UK. Now this law will stop these risky attempts.
What is the Rwanda plan?
The main objective of this bill is that the migrants who enter the UK illegally and ask for asylum in the UK will now be sent to the third country Rwanda and their trial will be done there and if the case is genuine, they will be given asylum in Rwanda. Due to this, those who enter the UK illegally as migrants in search of jobs and then try to get asylum there will be stopped and people will not put their lives at risk.
What will be the impact of this new law on Indians?
This new law will mainly affect Indians because if we talk about the figures, last year in 2023, about 5000 people tried to escape illegally to the UK and demanded citizenship there and demanded asylum, now with this law it will be very difficult for them to get asylum and in future very few people will try to enter the UK illegally
UK's Rishi Sunak said on social media site X, start the flights, stop the boats, that is what this bill deliver.
What action plan has the UK Government made to implement this bill ?
The UK administration has increased the capacity of detention centres to 2,200 and appointed 200 specialist caseworkers to speed up the process. In addition, 25 courtrooms and 150 judges are ready to settle legal disputes related to the scheme.
