Sha'Carri Richardson and rapper Cardi B talk preparations for Paris 2024

 Hello and I welcome you all at Global affairs. News related to the 2024 Paris Olympics has started to trickle in. Recent world 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson and Grammy Award-winning singer Cardi B both share a passion for elaborate nail art and are equally excited for the upcoming Olympic Summer Games Paris 2024.

 On Saturday, Richardson said her preparation is so meticulous that every aspect of her life is taken into account: "Like how much sleep I'm getting. Literally every little thing matters. It's worth the hard work, it's worth the sacrifice. In those moments, it showed that this is why I do what I do." The last time around, ahead of Tokyo 2020, a suspension due to a positive test for THC forced the track superstar out of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which was both disappointing and saddening. 

 This time around, Richardson is completely focused on making it to the Olympics: "I'm not going anywhere, I'm fully prepared, I'm working... I have no plans to let life, adversity, any obstacle stop me from being in Paris," she said. With a personal best of 10.65 seconds at the World Championships in Budapest last year, the American sprinter is the fifth-fastest woman in history in the 100m. But to qualify for Paris 2024 she will need to join the US team at the trials, which take place from 21 to 30 June in Eugene, Oregon. And naturally she will have to work harder than at the World Championships as the Olympics will feature the world's best athletes. The 100m women's final at Paris 2024 will take place on 3 August. 

Cardi B has expressed her excitement, saying the French capital is "one of her favourite places in the world" and that "when the Olympics are in a glittering city, the atmosphere changes."  The rapper is also looking forward to seeing Richardson in action: "I'll come just for you... and shopping!" The chemistry between the two is currently a hot topic on social media.
