Mexico suspended it's diplomatic ties with Ecuador

Hello and I welcome you all  at Global affairs. recently, some major developments happened between Ecuador and Mexico. Mexico's president andres Manuel Lopez obrador said that he had ordered the immediate suspension of diplomatic relations with Ecuador.

Reason behind it the Ecuador Police Forcibly entered our Embassy and detained that countries former vice president between 2013 and 2017, who was a Refugee and seeking Asylum due to persecution and oppression.

Who is Jorge Glas?

'Glas' is former vice president of Ecuador. He served Ecuador as vice president between 2013 and 2017. He took refuge in the Embassy last December after Ecuador issued an arrest warrant against him for alleged corruption.

What were the allegations?

After relived of his duties. he was sentenced to 6 year in prison over corruption of Brazilian construction company odebrech. according to prosecutor he bribed the 13.5 million dollars. he was released from jail in November, but Ecuador's officials accused him for corruption and a another  arrest warrant issued, due to which the glas had to take shelter in the Mexican Embassy.

On Friday, Mexico said that he has given political shelter to the "after intensive analysis of the situation" but this action is considered illegal by Ecuador.

Ecuador's reaction over this ? 

After giving Asylum to Glas by Mexico, Ecuador's president said in a statement that "Ecuador is a sovereign Nation and we will not allow any criminal" and after this the police is shown to break a Wall  and metal fence. at the entrance of the embassy and arrest glas again.
